Following an application to the Lancaster Community Fund in early November 2025, The Lancaster Canal Boaters Association has been awarded £1000 towards the costs of supporting the welfare and wellbeing of canal boaters.

The Lancaster Community Fund panel approved the LCBA’s application when they met on Thursday 12th November 2025.

The funds will be used to provide the following over the first few months of operation:

• Some coal & fuel services for those struggling to pay heating bills
• Three Events to bring the boating community together & promote our services
• An emergency fund for engine parts for those in need
• A website and infastructure to manage members & services
• Future infastructure to secure the longevity of the LCBA

The funds will allow the LCBA to get started and build the framework on which we can ensure the LCBA will continue to work towards helping boaters and improve life on The Lancaster Canal.
