Where to find things

Here’s some of our recommendations to help make your life on the Lancaster Canal easier. We’ve listed local suppliers that are known to our committee and those that are recommended by our members

Ambush Fuel Services

‘Diesel Derek’ supplies coal (from £11 to 14 per bag), Red diesel (approx £1 per litre) and logs. 13kg Gas bottles are around £40 (exchange only). He can deliver to your boat if you are near a road. There is a minimum order but this can be shared between a few boaters if you’re in one location.

Catlows

Local Fuel supplier based on the White Lund Estate in Lancaster.

Suppliers of coal at £14 per bag. There is a minimum order of 5 bags for delivery. They also do logs and FloGas. You must be near a road to recieve delivery

DIY Shops

C&C Supplies located near bridge 64 in Garstang has everything you need including sheet timber. They are a very short walk from the canal bridge.

DIY supplies Carnforth located just off the A6 and a short walk from the Canal turn basin is a locally owner alladins cave for the DIY’er

Community Spaces

Lancaster Makers Space is a community workshop in the center of Lancaster. As well as events it is open to members who pay a monthly fee to use the workshop facilites. Ideal for those who may have projects on the go but no space to work on them.

Stay up to date

Lancaster Canal Users Facebook Group is a must for any boater on the canal to stay up to date with the community

Waterside Weekly is a radio show focused solely on the Lancaster canal and presented by a liveboard boater. A great way to get to know the community.

Record your Boat Movements

The FLOAT app is the best way to track and keep a record of your boat movements. It allows you to download a copy of your boat movements if you ever need to prove your record to the CRT. Available for both Andriod and IOS
