The Fundraising Officer leads LCBA’s fundraising activity, including grant applications, donation campaigns, fundraising events, sponsorship approaches and funding plans for specific projects.

This role should work closely with the Treasurer so that fundraising ideas are realistic, properly costed and linked to LCBA’s agreed priorities. They will also be required to work with the Events Manager to ensure fundraising opportunities are considered at events.

What is expected of the person in the role:
  • Identify suitable grants, donations, sponsorship and fundraising opportunities.
  • Prepare or coordinate funding applications.
  • Work with the Treasurer on project budgets and financial evidence.
  • Work with the Events Manager on fundraising events, donation points, raffle arrangements, fundraising stalls and event income.
  • Work with the Content Creator on fundraising campaign content, donation posts, event photographs, impact stories and sponsor recognition.
  • Work with the Head of Communications and Liaison to ensure fundraising publicity is accurate, approved and on brand.
  • Work with the Events Committee on fundraising activities.
  • Ensure funders receive accurate reports where required.
  • Keep records of funding applications, outcomes and reporting deadlines.
  • Help create fundraising messages with the Head of Communications and Liaison.
  • Ensure fundraising is honest, transparent and linked to LCBA’s purposes.
  • Avoid committing LCBA to deliver projects that have not been approved by the committee.
  • Help build a sustainable income plan for welfare support, events and any facilities work.
  • Attend any relevant training courses needed to fulfil the requirements of the position. 
  • Maintain a good standing in the community and represent LCBA in accordance with all internal policies.
Reports to: 
  • The Treasurer for financial matters.
  • The Chair and full Committee for strategy and approval.
  • The Head of Communications and Liaison for fundraising publicity and branding.
Deputised by: 
  • The Treasurer should deputise for grant finance, budgets, restricted funds and financial reporting.
  • The Events Manager may deputise where the fundraising activity is part of an event.
  • The Head of Communications and Liaison may deputise for fundraising publicity, campaign wording and sponsor recognition.
  • The Content Creator may provide temporary support for fundraising graphics, donation posts and campaign updates, but only using approved wording and agreed messaging.
Deputises for: 
  • The Treasurer where the matter involves fundraising income, grant applications, donation records, fundraising targets, sponsorship information or project funding reports.
  • The Events Manager where an event is mainly a fundraising event or where fundraising activity is central to the event.
  • The Head of Communications and Liaison and Content Creator by providing fundraising messages, campaign wording and funder-approved information.
  • The Fundraising Officer should not deputise for the Chair, Secretary, Safeguarding and Welfare Officer, Membership Secretary or Boat Specialist unless the committee has agreed temporary cover.
